Our client is currently seeking a grocery category manager

The Grocery Category Manager position manages grocery categories within the center store team with major

responsibilities in achieving financial and department goals as well as market support and training. It is

responsible for all buying functions of assigned products and is the resident expert for all products within the

assigned category. It fosters strong business relationship with suppliers and supports the markets and larger

strategy of the company's brands. This role actively manages and updates an ongoing network of

distributors, manufactures, DSD vendor, and broker community as well as looking for great local offerings and

being first to market with innovations and trends for our guests.

Manages category business plans, promotional and trade strategies, vendor co-op budget, and margins within

assigned categories.

Negotiates annual programs, cost, delivery, and payment terms for assigned categories.

Establishes new product selections through category management by identifying emerging trends, brands, and

items within assigned categories in lifestyle research, industry publications, supplier meetings, trade shows and

market data.

Manages & authorizes promotional activity (Big Board, Bi-weekly, and Monthly TPR's), seasonal activity and

merchandising selling events within assigned categories.

Manages new and discontinued items process to include an exit plan for all discontinued item inventory,

developing plans for minimizing shrink in disco or slow mover process.

Facilitates all retail programs between markets and vendors. This will include regular departmental meetings,

and/or holiday showcase shows.

Develops Plan-o-grams for all markets and merchandising recommendations for promotion display spaces &

physically assists with complex category set work.

Manages any vendor contracts to ensure timely receipt of any rebates and promotional funding.

Considers all new item requests communicated by our Grocery Managers with assistance from our Center Store

Data Entry Clerk.

Collaborates with the data team to ensures the maintenance and update of all essential data information such

as cost, size, UPC, etc.

Creates all product promotional procurement plans and works with the Center Store Data Entry Clerk to ensure

proper layout & proofing.

Creates & executes the Monthly Merchandising Planner.

Partners to find opportunities to utilize the Depot to secure products and lines at a competitive cost of goods

going direct or to secure inventory for the chain when supplies are limited.

Preferred 5 years Grocery Department Management, merchandising, or purchasing experience.

Must have intermediate or higher computer skills including MS Office & Publisher.
