The primary purpose of this position is to develop, manage, and market our catering and cooking school programs.This position will be responsible for the growth, profitability, and leadership of both the cooking school and catering associates and programs.


Ensures company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity are maintained

Ensures the quality and freshness of all catering and cooking school products and services

Directly oversees the successful operations of the catering department and cooking school

Assists in the development and implementation of catering menu items and processes

Generates new customers and actively markets the cooking school and catering departments

Teaches, mentors, and educates associates to help them be successful members of the team

Provides honest, direct and constant feedback to associates regarding their performance and areas of improvement

Plans accordingly to achieve sales, projection, labor and profitability goals

Ensures the cooking school is clean, well-maintained and meets company standards of appearance

Delivers excellent customer service while acting as a point of contact for our cooking school and catering services

Actively promotes and effectively markets cooking school classes and special store events

Works with the cooking school chef to create new and exciting classes

Completes assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner

Works to improve cooking school performance and sales

Receives feedback from customers through surveys and other means regarding cooking school classes and special store events

Sets a professional and positive example to others

Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures

Communicates openly and frequently with Store Director

Works closely with the Delicatessen Manager and Fresh Delicatessen Sales Director


Performs other job-related duties as assigned

A college degree in culinary arts, marketing, or other related job field; 2 years catering experience; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task balance friendliness with efficiency and maintain focus

A good knowledge of food products, varieties and nutritional information

A good working knowledge of food quality, preparation, sanitation and hygiene, kitchen safety and food presentation

Capacity to problem solve and use good judgment

Use of commercial kitchen equipment

Ability to utilize computer systems and standard office equipment

Ability to demonstrative creativity and originality in the presentation and service of food

Ability to interpret policies and procedures

Proficient organization and planning skills

Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with diverse groups of people

Ability to professionally and appropriately handle conflict

Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one s own success as well as the success of your team

Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized skills and techniques

Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a demonstrated passion for Harmons mission and commitment to working collaboratively

Continually strives to be product minded, customer minded, personnel minded, detailed, forward focused and consistent

Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of infrequent exposure to hot, cold, slippery and wet conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries.Also requires standing, walking and bending throughout the entire work day and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 30 pounds from location to location
